A foot scrub is a preparation of various abrasive natural substances that can sloughs off dead skin cells on your feet and heels. Foot scrubs can remove those stubborn calluses and cracked heels, revealing beautiful, clean and 'baby' soft feet.

Many brands don't overemphasize on foot care as they do in face care, body care and overall skincare, leaving an empty need that needs to be fulfilled. If you're a hardcore fan of DIY skincare creating your own skincare products is always something to look out for. So I thought you'll enjoy making a foot scrub since they can be hard to outsource at a local store nearby.

In order to make foot scrub blends, using variety of natural products with properties that can make your feet be in good conditions, include things like

  • Epsom salt: Also known as magnesium sulfate, this salt has many benefits. Epsom salt can be easily be absorbed by the skin and help to balance electrolytes in the feet. It can reduce feet pain and soreness after wearing high heels and tight shoes for many hours. But also Epsom salt can help your cracked heels to shed dead skin cells by rubbing it in your feet and leave your heels feeling very soft like baby's skin. You can substitute these with Dead sea salt in this foot scrub recipe.

  • Himalayan pink salt: This salt is renowned for its pinkish tint which comes from having trace minerals in its composition. Just like Epsom salt, it can slough off dead skin cells revealing soft feet. But also pink salt can reduce sore, improve blood circulation in feet and help healing of muscle pain.

  • Fuller's Earth clay: If you have sweaty feet this ingredient can help to absorb sweat and oils that can over time reduce smelly feet or foot fungus caused by sweat that sticks between the toenails. But also it help with reducing swelling ang inflammation.

  • Coconut oil: This oil is good for the hair, skin and finally feet. Including this coconut oil in your foot scrub is going to set it to another higher level. Coconut oil has many benefits such as being anti-inflammatory which can help to reduce feet swelling perfect for feet massage.

  • Thyme essential oil: Rubbing this essential oil to the feet can reduce muscle contraction in feet and joint pain and thus relax them. Including thyme essential oil can be a very best choice that you'll have to make this foot scrub recipe.

  • Lavender essential oil: The role of lavender essential oil is to make your feet smell nice. After having your sweaty feet for a long time in tight shoes they can remove a bad and foul smell. Having essential oil such as lavender in your foot scrub can leave your feet smelling nice and deodorized. It also has anti-septic and anti-fungal properties that can fight foot fungus.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)

  • ½ cup of Himalayan pink salt

  • 1 tablespoon of Fuller's Earth clay

  • ¾ cup of coconut oil

  • 40 drops of thyme essential oil

  • 15 drops of lavender essential oil

Please collect your ingredients before starting making your foot scrub. Collect tools like small designated jars with lid, small bowl, basin and spatula.

Instructions

  1. Take all your dry ingredients and put them in a glass bowl. Add Epsom salt, followed by Himalayan pink salt and Fuller's Earth clay.

  2. Mix with a wooden spoon till well combined.

  3. Next add your coconut oil oil. Using unrefined coconut oil if you prefer the coconut aroma in the end product or use fractionated coconut oil with no scent. Then add your thyme essential oil and lavender essential oil drop by drop to your mixed ingredients and mix with a spatula.

  4. Scoop your blend and put it small glass jars with a tight lid and place in your basin that have enough room to accommodate your feet.

  5. Apply this foot scrub all over your feet and rub them for 3 to 5 minutes.

  6. Wash your feet in the basin with warm water to get rid of dirt, dead skin cells and scrub.

  7. Remove your feet from the basin and towel dry them.

Caution: If you have medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases or any other chronic disorders this foot scrub recipe may not be right for you. Please consult your healthcare professionals or physician before engaging in these recipe.
