Hello, my gorgeous readers, today we'll be making another recipe that I hope you'll love. If you're thinking of making a DIY skincare recipe, then this is the right one for you. Learn how to make a lemongrass whipped creamy body butter. Let's get started, shall we?
DIY SKINCARE
Body butters can be a good treat for your skin especially for super dry skin type. If you have dry skin type body butters can help prevent water escape from your skin. But also, body butters have occlusive properties that can protect the skin.
Body butters are usually very thick moisturizers than body creams or body lotions. Body butters can help rejuvenate and replenish natural skin oils, improving rough skin texture and intensive moisturizing. Natural butters like shea butter, cocoa butter, murumuru butter and mango butter have high amounts of triglycerides and fatty acids for nourishing the skin. This lemongrass body butter is good to for keeping itsy-bitsy insects at bay while nourishing the skin. Lemongrass essential oil is a good anti-repellent, that's why I used it in this recipe.
SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Mango butter: It is an off-white semi-hard butter expeller-pressed from the seed-kernels of mango fruits. Mango butter has a sweet aroma of the tropical mango and good for this recipe. Mango butter contains essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants that are good for your skin health.
Cocoa butter: I love the chocolatey aroma of the cocoa butter. It is cream-colored or yellowish butter derived from cocoa beans. It is good at reducing stretch marks and increasing the elasticity of the skin. I thought it will be a good idea to include this into the recipe.
Olive oil: Olive oil is not only good for cooking but also great for your skin. It contains high amount of oleic acid which is good for replenishing the skin barrier. Get extra virgin organic one to reap more benefits though this option may be expensively priced.
Vitamin E oil: Also known as tocopherol, vitamin E oil is usually heavy in consistency in its purest form with affinity to quench free radicals that can cause skin damage leading to visible signs of aging. It is a good preservative for the body butter we are making.
Lemongrass essential oil: It does have a distinct scent from its leaves which are a good for making herbal tea. It has anti-repellent properties, which helps to keep insects such as mosquitoes at bay. It can lead to photosensitivity, so it'll be a good idea to apply this body butter with lemongrass essential oil during the evening time.
Ingredients
1/4 (a quarter) a cup of mango butter
2 tablespoons of cocoa butter
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 (a quarter) teaspoon of vitamin E oil
40 drops of lemongrass essential oil
You can gather your supplies and tools like kitchen thermometer, measuring spoons, measuring cups, a saucepan or double boiler, a hand-held mixer or whisk and a wooden spoon.
Instructions
First things first, start by measuring your ingredients: mango butter, cocoa butter and olive oil and put them in a double boiler. If you don't have one, don't worry about it, you can use a saucepan of simmering water and place a glass measuring cup and add the ingredients.
Melt the mixture in low heat between 98 to 105 Fahrenheit. When melted completely, pour your mixture into a glass mixing bowl.
Wait for 15 to 20 minutes for the mixture to cool to room temperature of 77 Fahrenheit(25 Celsius).
Next, take your mixture into a mixing bowl, with a hand-held mixer and whisk it for like 10 minutes.
Put your mixture into refrigerator and let it chill for five minutes.
Repeat step 4 and step 5 till the mixture is whipped, creamy and fluffy.
Now you can add vitamin E oil and lemongrass essential oil altogether and combine them in your whipped creamy mixture.
Scoop your whipped creamy body butter with a wooden spoon and transfer to a well-sanitized jar.
