I know you got some remaining soy wax flakes or beeswax...from making other homemade recipes like lotions, creams, body butters and things of that nature from this blog. I know if you've been reading these posts from quite a while and making your own DIY projects then you've got wax leftovers enough to make at least one or two unscented candles. Embark in this new project! Now let's go!
HOW TO'S

Candles can be that another DIY project to include in your to-do list. Candles can be fun to make, you can make them in different shapes, colors and sizes. There are also many varieties like scented candles, marble candles, multi-colored candles and so on, the list is endless. Only your imagination and creativity can stop you from making those aesthetically pleasing to look at candles!
Candles are generally made of wax and have a wick in the middle. You light the wick and the wax acts as the fuel. In the past, long before electricity was a thing candles was one of sources of light. They were made from tallow or beeswax.
They illuminated medieval cathedrals and palaces, placed in beautifully ornamented candle holders. They are now absolete for lighting purposes though candles are used for functional purposes. Candles are a symbol of calmness and peace. Candles can be used for religious purposes too. You can also use candles for self-care purposes when you meditate or take a bath.
Nowadays, you can have lots of option when making candles when it comes to waxes. There are
Beeswax pellets
Soy wax flakes
Paraffin wax pellets
Tallow
To make a vegan-friendly, in this simple beginner recipe let's use soy wax flakes to create unscented candles for self-care and soothing baths. I find unscented candles easy to make especially if you are a beginner but also reduce chances of allergenic reactions and other issues to individuals than other varieties of candles.
SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Wax: this is our main and sole ingredient for this recipe. Very simple, right? The type of wax can affect the quality of the candles you make. I prefer a more natural approach so beeswax can be a good option. If you like both natural and vegan-friendly recipe then soy wax is the way to go! Get your soy wax in form of flakes and beeswax in form of pellets and not blocks for easy of use. If your beeswax is in form of blocks, just simply grate it. If you prefer to use other waxes the procedures are still the same but consider the melting temperature of your wax. Many waxes won't go above 80 Celsius.
Wick: Is made of fibers usually looks like a long rope. Find a right wick for right candle size. Wick size is crucial for an evenly burning, long-lasting candle.
Ingredients
12 tablespoons of soy wax
wicks with metal base
pegs or pencil will do
candle glasses or any small open glass jar or metal container
In this recipe you'll also need tools like double boiler or saucepan, kitchen thermometer and glass measuring cup. Remember to gather all your ingredients and tools to remove any need to stop in the middle of the making process. This recipe is fun and so, so easy, you'll enjoy it at the end of the day!

Instructions
Simply start your candle making process by measuring out your soy wax flakes and add them in the glass measuring cup or double boiler.
Place your measuring cup with soy wax flakes inside a saucepan with few inches of water if you lack a double boiler. Turn on the stove top and put your double boiler or saucepan with glass measuring cup in.
Let you wax melt. When the wax reaches 160 to 170 Fahrenheit temperature range then it would've melted completely at this point now. Stir your melting wax occasionally. This melting process won't exceed 15 minutes, trust me!
Meanwhile prepare your candle glasses. Carefully attach your wick metal discs to the base of your candle glasses. On the other end of the wick tie it to a pencil and let the pencil rest horizontally on top of the candle glass do the same to other candle glasses. Make sure your wicks are straight and not loosely and limp.
Your wax is already melted just pour it into the candle glasses and let it to cool slowly.
TIP: Place your candle glasses in a hot water bath to avoid rapid cooling that can cause cavities in the middle of your candles.
Let your wax cure for 24 to 48 hours then you can use them for self-care routine as part of meditating or something or a certain event you planned for.
TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKING UNSCENTED CANDLES
If you see a sink hole in the middle of your candle, don't worry simply re-melt it with hairdryer.
Maintain consistent temperature when pouring your melted wax in your candle glasses, using a water bath to heat up your candle glasses whilst pouring is better.
Don't use microwave to heat your wax.
Choose the right wick for the right size of your candle.
