Eye serums are very significant when it comes to addressing eye-area concerns that normal lotions, night creams or even face serums aren't formulated with that in mind. Some of the benefits are
Firming under eye skin: Eye serums that contain retinol and peptides can help to build and boost collagen production underneath creating a 'scaffold' that can prevent the skin to sink or start sagging as a result of losing collagen.
Reduce puffiness: One of the immediate results upon using under eye serum is observing day after day that when you wake up there will be less concerns of puffy under eyes.
Improve and reduce appearance of crow's feet: If you have already started to see fine lines and wrinkles then using under eye serums with retinol or peptide complex like argireline, matrixyl 3000 or tripeptide-5 can help to increase youthful appearance.

Selecting Ingredients
Distilled water: This under eye serum formulation comprises large percentage of watery ingredients. In making cosmetic formulations one should always know that tap water or bottled drinking water is a no-no! These kind of water is more likely to contain microbes or mineral impurities that can ruin the final product even cause bacterial growth something you'd want to avoid as much as possible especially when it comes to formulating eye care products.
Chamomile flower extract: This plant extract has many benefits that can help with delicate under-eye skin area. It is very gentle to skin and contains anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe and calm puffy eyes as well as lighten dark circles thus a good choice for this under eye serum.
Peptide complex: There are many peptides that can really help to firm the under eye skin area with great results. You can always purchase them online as a blend or individually. When buying pay close attention to peptides such as matrixyl 3000, palmitoyl tripeptide-5, these can help to reduce signs of aging, fine lines and wrinkles with little time as 30 days you'll start to observe positive changes.
Tocopherol acetate: This is just vitamin E oil. It is a very good anti-oxidant that can reduce free radicals thus minimize the damage that can do to the delicate skin under the eye area. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can minimize redness and irritation on the skin.
Dimethicone: It is a silicone polymer used in various skincare products to increase slip for easy application on the skin. It makes the products spread evenly on the skin thus coating it to help with skin hydration underneath therefore a good ingredient to include in your under eye serum formulation.
Guar gum: This is a thickening agent in your under eye serum. Since main ingredients in this formulation are water-based then adding guar gum to make it less runny and increase viscosity controlling capacity of the final product.
Sodium PCA: This ingredient is a humectant that draws in moisture from deep layers to the surface of the skin which can improve hydration, retain moisture and make your skin appear youthful, dewy and glowy. As part of this under eye serum formulation nothing could be better than this!
Phenoxyethanol: This ingredient is primarily a preservative that can prevent bacterial growth in the under eye serum formulation and increase the shelf life of the product overall. It is safe in small doses up to one percent and does not disrupt hormones.
EDTA: This ingredient its sole purpose is to adjust the pH and act as the stabilizer for other ingredients in the formulation though its role is small it enhances the proper functioning of the final product.
