Other factors like selecting wrong choice of hair products for your hair type and harsh weather elements like wind as well as pollution can make your hair vulnerable.
Protein Hair Mask
As part of hair care routine for any hair type or hair porosity, one should do hair treatments that can fortify hair cuticles on regular basis. You can use hot oil treatments, mayonnaise, moisture and protein treatments. All these treatments have their own function and benefits to the hair. In this post we're addressing protein hair mask to benefits
Strengthen hair strands: If you use avocado, egg or mayonnaise it can help your hair to some extend though this options are made of macro-proteins that can not penetrate and rebuild those hair strands but using this hair protein that used micro-proteins and amino acids can make your hair strands stronger since they can penetrate and fortify hair.
Promote hair growth: Protein hair mask can promote hair growth but also support hair length retention since it can rejuvenate hair follicles to support hair growth and revitalize your hair strands.
Repair hair strands: Proteins are essential in rebuilding broken hair strands, damaged hair strands from heating tools like curling irons, straighteners and crimpers or from using chemical treatments like relaxers, perms, hair texturizers or coloring that can leave hair cuticles open and therefore prone to breakage. Using protein hair mask can improve your hair overall.
Add shine and volume to hair: One of the things that protein hair mask can do for your hair is smoothen and close down your cuticles. Smooth cuticles means smooth hair that can reflect light and seen as shine and radiance which can also be a signal for healthy hair.
DIY Protein Hair Mask
If you want strong and healthy hair then applying protein hair mask is important. Using this hair treatment in intervals of four to six weeks can be helpful. But also if you should keep in mind that protein overload on your hair can make your hair brittle and less moisturized, so knowing moisture to protein balance for your hair type and porosity is vital in haircare. Now let's jump in this recipe!
Selecting Ingredients
Distilled water: As part of making this recipe you'll need purified water. In order to have a recipe that has longer shelf life and less prone to bacterial growth then using distilled water is not an option. This recipe, again doesn't contain a preservative so avoid using using tap water or bottled drinking water since they can cause bacterial growth or mineral impurities to your hair mask and affect its overall quality.
Liquid lecithin: This ingredient is an emulsifying agent that bind your oil, proteins and water ingredients together. Powder form may be hard to work with since it is hard to dissolve it in water.
Guar gum: This ingredient acts as thickening agent. A good natural thickener for a more natural haircare product. Guar gum makes the overall recipe less runny for easier hold when applied on hair.
Moroccan argan oil: This plant oil has become so popular over the years in both skincare and haircare space. This oil can be used by any hair type and can promote from shine to hair growth. It is part of your protein hair mask.
Avocado oil: This is another ingredient that you're going to use in your protein hair mask recipe. Avocado oil contains essential fatty acids, amino acids and vitamins that can fortify your hair strands. It also has avocado-like scent that is nice.
Hydrolyzed wheat protein: This broken micro-protein comes from the wheat germ proteins by using a process called hydrolysis. Hydrolyzed wheat proteins can help to draw in moisture in hair strands so it is very important to hair.
Hydrolyzed keratin protein: As you already know, your hair is made up of type of protein called keratin. But also keratin can be found in nails and also claws or furs of animals. Hydrolyzed keratin can help repair damaged hair shafts that have been scorched by heating tools or chemical treatments like perm or relaxers.
Hydrolyzed silk protein: For hair shine consider using silk protein, avoid powder form, you don't want trouble while formulating your recipe, right? Silk protein can also smoothen those rough cuticles and improve hair shine.
Rosemary essential oil: Just a touch up, using rosemary essential oil can boost hair growth and hair follicle rejuvenation. It is no doubt a best essential oil though you can always find something that can suit your taste.
