For those with delicate, sensitive and dry skin skin types finding bath body products that can be gentle for your skin can be an exhausting task. Many bath products contain harsh ingredients that may leave your skin feeling more dry and even irritated.
Ingredients To Avoid In Your Bath Products
Some of the harsh ingredients that are found in many bath products from shower gels, body wash to bath bar soaps are filled with some of these ingredients are
parabens
sulfates
artificial fragrance
artificial dyes
silicones
These ingredients not only leave your skin dry and irritated but can come with other issues causing hormonal disruptions, allergic reactions and even cancer. But also these ingredients can exacerbate skin conditions like atopic dermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea.
DIY Shower Cleansing Oil
Making shower oil can be fun and easy than other bath products since it is easier to craft oil-based even for beginners. Oil-based bath product can leave your skin more moisturized and good skin feel after shower.
Selecting Ingredients
Grape seed oil: This plant oil is derived from cold pressing grape seeds. This oil is filled with numerous antioxidants that can moisturize and nourish your skin. Its lightweight nature makes it a better choice for your cleansing shower oil.
Jojoba oil: This plant oil is another good ingredient to add to your cleansing shower oil. It is filled with antioxidants and vitamin E oil. This oil is very unique that it mimics the natural oils (sebum) that is produced by the sin. It can improve the skin feel and don't overwhelm your skin. Find organic options to reap more benefits from it.
Sweet almond oil: Another good ingredient is almond oil. It is an excellent emollient for the skin with vitamin E, omega fatty acids and other antioxidants that can be nourishing to dry or sensitive skin types. Sweet almond oil has a sweet nutty aroma that can be a plus to your shower oil formulation.
PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate: It is an emulsifying agent that can bind all other ingredients together to make this amazing orange shower cleansing oil. It can do more than that too. It can make your skin feeling soft and supple. It can form protective layer that will keep your skin hydrated reducing chances of transdermal water loss.
Decyl glucoside: This ingredient is actually our surfactants that is going to cleansing your skin and get rid of dirt and grime. It can also act as a stabilizer to your shower cleansing oil formulation. It is more safer than sulfates cleansers.
Vitamin E oil: This ingredient also known as tocopherol acetate. It can help your skin to fight free radicals.
Orange essential oil: You can always choose to use another favorite essential oils or ditch this ingredient for unscented shower cleansing oil.
Ingredients
4¾ tablespoons of grapeseed oil
1 tablespoon of jojoba oil
1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil
⅔ teaspoon of PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate
⅓ teaspoon of decyl glucoside
20 drops of vitamin E oil
15 to 20 drops of orange essential oil
This formulation is very easy to create even for beginners in DIY skincare. Now gather your utensils like measuring spoons, mixing bowl, spatula and bottle. Now let's get into it.
Instructions
Measure out your ingredients: grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, decyl glucoside and PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate and set aside.
Add your plant oils such as sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and grapeseed oil in a mixing bowl or beaker and stir well to get uniform mixture.
Next add your PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, decyl glucoside and vitamin E oil to your liquid mixture.
Now add a touch of orange essential oil drops to the mix and stir well again.
Pour the oil liquid mixture to your disinfected, designated bottle.
