As part of daily skincare routine, cleansing your face is the first step to create a blank skin canvas that you can then layer your leave-on skincare products like serum, moisturizer, essence, face oil, sunscreen and make-up. Natural face cleansers can contain natural ingredients that are non-toxic to your skin.

Face Cleansing Milk

Face cleansing milk is a skincare product that can remove dirt, grime, sebum build up or make-up from the skin. Cleansing milk can not only cleanse your face but also intensely moisturize and hydrate your skin without leaving harmful residue on the skin that may cause acne breakouts, skin irritation, redness and dermatitis.

As you already know many people nowadays are concerned about their skincare products containing dangerous trace minerals, toxic and harmful ingredients that are allergenic, hormonal disrupting and carcinogenic for instance

  • Parabens

  • Sulfates

  • Carbomers

  • Silicones

  • Artificial dyes

  • Artificial fragrances

  • Phthalates

  • Triclosan

  • Mineral oil

In this post, you will learn how to make your own cleansing milk which can be very helpful if you have normal, combination or dry skin type. In fact any skin type can benefit from this cleanser.

Selecting Ingredients

  • Coconut milk: This is milk contains essential fatty acids that can help to unclog pores, cleanse your face and still leave it without its natural oils being stripped. This coconut milk is vegan-friendly that anyone can use it to cleanse your face.

  • Rosemary-infused water: Again you might have rosemary herb lying around in your kitchen and use it to make herbal-infused waster. Rosemary herbal water can help to purify and clear your pores. It can also help to reach deeper skin layer and intensely hydrate and balance skin natural oils.

  • Olive oil: Find extra virgin olive oil for more benefits. Olive oil contains high content of oleic acid and anti-oxidants that can help your skin. They can moisturize, prevent pre-mature aging, increase skin elasticity and protect your skin from free radicals.

  • Liquid lecithin: It is derived from the fats of soybeans, though it can come from animal products such as egg yolk. Be careful when going to purchase one, make sure you get the vegan-friendly type for a better natural skincare experience. It acts as an emulsifying agent in this recipe, binding water-based and oil-based ingredients.

  • Vegetable glycerin: Glycerin has potential to moisturize your skin and improve hydration. When you add it in face cleanser it can improve your skin hydration.

  • Rose essential oil: This essential oil can be used to improve your skin's texture or moisturize your skin type. It is gentle to the skin and deodorize it in the process.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of coconut milk

  • ¼ cup of rosemary-infused water

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ¼ teaspoon of liquid lecithin

  • 4 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin

  • 40 drops of rose essential oil

Prepare your ingredients before starting to make this recipe. Prepare your tools that you are going to use in this case arrange for kitchen thermometer, measuring spoons, glass measuring cups, heatproof bowl, saucepan and any other equipment you might need while making this recipe. This can reduce chances of leaving your process behind, because a certain ingredient or tool is missing.

Instructions

  1. First start out by measuring your ingredients; coconut milk, olive oil, liquid lecithin and vegetable glycerin. Pour them into a glass measuring cup and then place it in saucepan with few inches of water.

  2. Put it on stove top and wait till the water simmers creating hot water bath for your mixture. Turn off the heat.

  3. Carefully, remove the glass measuring cup from the saucepan and pour the mixture in a heatproof bowl. Wait the mixture to cool to a room temperature 25 Celsius(77 Fahrenheit).

  4. Now take another glass measuring cup and pour your rosemary-infused water. Make this water by adding dried rosemary to boiling water and let them infuse. Place this glass measuring cup in the saucepan and heat the liquid to 70-77 Fahrenheit to match the temperature of the previous mixture in the previous measuring cup. Use a kitchen thermometer to measure the precise temperature.

  5. Pour your heated rosemary-infused water in the same mixing bowl with your mixture that you made in step 1 to step 3.

  6. Mix with a wooden spoons for about five minutes till all the mixture starts to emulsify and thicken.

  7. Add your rose essential oil, drop by drop and mix for like two minutes. You can substitute this essential oil with vitamin E oil or just skip this step.

  8. Lastly pour your now ready face cleanser in a designated pump bottle. Make sure your bottle is well-sanitized and clean to avoid bacterial growth. Allow it to cool and then store it in refrigerator and use within two weeks.
