Natural body washes contain natural substances like botanicals, essential oils, floral waters or plant oils that help nourish and moisturize your skin. These body cleansers mostly will use liquid castile soap as the main ingredient that can cleanse your skin. Meanwhile conventional, store-bought body washes use detergents which can sometimes be too harsh and can cause allergic reactions on the skin, dermatitis and irritation especially to blemish-prone, acne and sensitive skin type.

Blemish-prone Skin Type

Before we continue let's get to know what blemish-prone skin type is? This is a skin type which is more likely to develop, acne, blackheads, pimples, dark spots or moles due to one reason or the other. Some of the common causes for a blemished skin type are

  • Compromised skin barrier

  • Skin bacterial infections

  • Overproduction of sebum on the skin

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Skin trauma

After knowing what we are dealing with then you can create body wash that can address blemishes on the skin. Apart from using this body wash having a well-curated, consistent skincare routine and use of serums that can treat and prevent blemishes.

Rose Body Wash Recipe for Blemish-prone Skin

This body wash recipe contains rose floral water that can help to heal blemishes, and fade out the appearance of dark scars left behind after acne and pimples have healed. Another ingredient is thyme essential oil which can help to heal and reduce occurrence of blemishes appearing on the skin in the future.

Selecting Ingredients

  • Liquid Castile soap: Don't worry about using castile soap it is natural and generally safe for all skin types including acne-prone or blemish-prone skin types. In fact, liquid castile soap is more gentle than detergents found in store-bought body cleansers and washes. It is hypoallergenic ingredient that can be included in your rose body wash.

  • Rose floral water: Floral water are generally good as a skincare ingredient, rose water can be used to hydrate the skin, calm, soothe the itchiness and redness as your skin heals from blemishes and acne scars. It can clear your skin and reduce appearance of pimples or blackheads.

  • Vegetable glycerin: This ingredient has hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties that can be used for body washes. Vegetable glycerin is safe for the skin and cannot clog pores. Glycerin can also help in breaking down proteins in dead skin cells in rough parches and acne and blemishes

  • Raw honey: It has ability to heal and soothe blemish-prone skin because it has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce acne breakouts. It can help skin renewal and regeneration.

  • Apple cider vinegar: This ingredient can help balance skin pH which is good thing for blemish prone skin. ACV can reduce skin redness and irritation too.

  • Thyme essential oil: This essential oil, can be good for reducing oiliness, acne breakouts, reduce pore size and deeply cleanse pores. It is backed up research studies.

  • Oregano essential oil: It is another good essential oil that can clear up pimples and blackheads that can plague the skin and lead to blemishes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of liquid Castile soap

  • 3 tablespoons of rose floral water

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin

  • 2 tablespoons of raw honey

  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

  • 15 drops of tea thyme essential oil

  • 10 drops of oregano essential oil

Remember to gather all the ingredients and tools before starting to create your body wash recipe. This can reduce your downtime but also prevent you from stopping the process mid-way only to realize you are missing some of tools or worse enough essential ingredients. Have a glass measuring cup, a funnel(optional), measuring spoons and your designated pump bottle.

Instructions

  1. Begin making your recipe by adding three tablespoons of rose floral water into a glass measuring cup.

  2. Add your raw honey and apple cider vinegar, stir well till dissolved in the floral water and put this glass measuring cup aside.

  3. Now pour your liquid Castile soap in your already designated bottle with a tight cap or pump for easy use.

  4. Next, place your funnel in a bottle and pour the solution you just created in Step 1 and Step 2 into the liquid Castile soap.

  5. Then add your vegetable glycerin in your solution in a bottle.

  6. At this step you can add your essential oils; oregano and thyme essential oils that can banish blemishes for good!

  7. Close your bottle with a lid or cap and shake well till all ingredients have thicken and well combined.

  8. Store your body wash in a refrigerator to be chill and slow down bacterial growth. Use it within two weeks.
