What Is Buttermilk Bath?
Buttermilk bath is a bath treatment that is made from buttermilk and other dairy products sometimes infused with dried herbs, flowers or essential oils. This blend is added to the bathtub filled with warm water and then you can indulge and soak in. So, what is buttermilk? Buttermilk is a dairy product made from the fermented milk, a liquid left behind after churning cultured cream. Buttermilk can have numerous benefits such as
Lightens skin tone
Soothes inflamed skin
Exfoliates dead skin cells
Moisturizes the skin
Smoothen rough textured skin
Since Medieval times, buttermilk has been used to lighten the skin especially freckles which were thought as unsightly for any beauty. Till today buttermilk works and now we know for sure it is lactic acid, an alpha hydroxyl acid found in fermented milk can help sloughs off dead skin cells a nd improve skin complexion.
Selecting Ingredients
Buttermilk: fermented milk cream by-product, buttermilk can be used to face out scars and any other dark spots and patches. Including it in your bath water can help to make your skin smooth and supple because of lactic acid it contains.
Natural honey: After buttermilk sloughs off dead skin cells, another ingredient comes in and hydrates, moisturizes your new tender skin. Natural honey is a very good humectant with numerous benefits to soothe inflamed skin, hyperpigmentation and reduce appearance of scars.


Vanilla extract: Derived from vanilla bean pods distillate. If you have sensitive, irritated and delicate skin don't worry it can help to soothe and calm the skin. This extract has antioxidant properties that can help to nourish your exfoliated skin.


Vitamin E oil: It contain anti-oxidants that can help moisturize and nourish you skin and make it very supple. Adding it in your buttermilk bath recipe can be a very good choice for skin maintaining.


Whole milk: What makes whole milk is its fat content. Whole milk has 2 to 4 percent fat content. Milk contains lactic acid, a AHAs, an exfoliant secret to brighter complexion. Before cosmetic industry started packaging lactic acid for us, this was the only way to get your lactic acid for your skin.


Ingredients
1 cup of whole milk
1 cup of buttermilk
¼ cup of natural honey
2 teaspoons of vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Get all your ingredients and tools to make it easier for you to make your recipe with less downtime especially if you are planning to use your milk bath on the same day.
Substitute whole milk for 6 tablespoons for powdered milk, and 1 cup of fresh buttermilk for dry powdered buttermilk to make bath blend that you want to use it any other day of the week or pack it as a gift. You will add liquid ingredients such as vanilla extract, honey and vitamin E oil before immediately using your milk bath.


Instructions
Prepare your ingredients; 1 cup of whole milk, 1 cup of buttermilk, ¼ cup of natural honey, 2 teaspoons of vitamin E oil and one tablespoon of vanilla extract.
Put all your ingredients in a glass bowl and whisk with a whisker for like 5 minutes.
For dry ingredients do the same blend them in mixing bowl and put them in a jar with a tight lid.
Your blend is ready for use.
How To Use Vanilla Buttermilk Bath
Fill the bathtub with warm water.
Pour your buttermilk blend into the water and swirl the the water for it to mix well.
At this point you can set up your relaxing music, dim lights, rose petals and scented candles.
Sit and soak in the bath your body for 20 to 30 minutes. You can rub this butter milk on your face too.
Rinse your body in the shower after soaking and pamper dry your body.
