Selecting Ingredients
Triglyceride: It is a fatty acid mostly derived from coconut oil. It is a very good emollient and can replenish the lips when used in lipstick formulation. Triglycerides can also be used in other skincare products formulation due to its numerous benefits.
Pomegranate seed oil: This lightweight carrier oil is non-comedogenic and can be a very useful emollient to your lips since it contains numerous fatty acids and anti-oxidants that can replenish and nourish your lips. Adding it to your DIY 24/7 lipstick formulation is a definitely way to go!
Microcrystalline wax: This is type of synthetic wax that is usually used in skincare and other cosmetic formulations. It is non-toxic, non-irritating and considered generally safe for use externally. Its occlusive yet emollient properties make it a good choice for using it in your lipstick formulation.
Stearyl palmitate: This is another ingredient that is going to be included in this formulation. It is generally safe ingredient to use on lips and rarely does it cause irritation. The function of stearyl palmitate is to act as an emollient to moisturize the lips that's why its added to this lipstick formulation.
Octyldodecanol: This is another fatty acid ingredient that is used to improve texture of the final lipstick product. Octyldodecanol can also be used as a solvent and perfumery despite being odorless itself. In this lipstick formulation is going to help to create soft textured lipstick.
Polyisobutene 250: This ingredient has many numerous functions to the lipstick formulation. First it is an excellent emollient, prevents lip dryness and enhances shine when lipstick is applied. It is also good at dispersing colorant which is going to beneficial to the lipstick shade evenness.
Vinyl dimethicone: This is the white silicone polymer powder. In this lipstick formulation, it is the ingredient that is going to make your lipstick long lasting for 24/7 lipstick. It has viscosity controlling properties too to make your lipstick base less runny and thus too soft to be held by lipstick holder. It has a smoothing and silky finish and prevents lipstick smudge and stains.
Vegetable glycerin: This is always a good ingredient to have. No formulation is complete without the touch of glycerin. Glycerin moisturizes, plumps and softens lips. You don't want your lips to be very dry and chapped even when applying lipstick, then adding glycerin is the answer!
Vitamin E oil: In any lip care formulation adding vitamin E oil is vital since vitamin E fights free radicals from the sun exposure your lips experiences during the day when wearing lipstick. Another thing is that this powerful anti-oxidant can act as a preservative to your lipstick formulation.
Red colorant: This is what makes your lipstick red. Use a high quality liquid colorant for easier dispersion compared to powder colorants they won't disperse well on the melted lipstick base. Don't feel constrained by red color, find the colorant of your choice and substitute it for red.
Bronze-colored mica: Add mica for a bit of shimmer when you apply that lipstick. If you are going for more solid, matte finish then avoid mica. You can use silver or gold mica or any other colored mica that matches the colorant you're going to use.
Chocolate fragrance oil: This is an optional ingredient to add to the formulation. You can find vanilla-like or floral scent that can complement your lipstick shade.

Tools like kitchen thermometer, heat proof measuring cups, measuring spoons, measuring scale, molds, lipstick holder and more. You might require an apron and gloves while working too, tough if you're neat these materials may not be essential
Instructions
This simple formulation is going to very easy to formulate since all ingredients are oil or wax based and won't require binders also known as emulsifiers to get the end product. Follow this steps down below to get your favorite 24/7 lipstick.
Begin making your lipstick by adding triglyceride, pomegranate seed oil, microcrystalline wax, stearyl palmitate, octyldodecanol, polyisobutene 250, vinyl dimethicone and vegetable glycerin to a sterilized heat-proof measuring cup and place it in a saucepan of water bath.
Turn on the stove top and heat this water bath with the measuring cup with ingredients in till all ingredients have melted. Stir occasionally. When the temperature is between 160 to 170 Fahrenheit, the ingredients will be melted completely. Test the temperature with kitchen thermometer to observe for more accuracy. All this time maintain the temperature and avoid overheating your ingredients.
Meanwhile on the other hand start to prepare your lipstick mold. Pull the mold apart and carefully grease the insides and assemble it back together, wrapping it with a rubber bands to keep it secure. Use olive, fractionated coconut oil or olive oil as your grease.
At this moment it is time to add your vitamin E oil, red colorant and bronze-colored mica to your melted formulation. Stir well till mixed completely. Don't hesitate to add your more colorant to achieve the lipstick shade you desire. But also you can be playful and include another colorant other than red for more epic twist.
Next add your chocolate fragrance oil to your mixture and stir till well dispersed in the melted ingredients. Fragrance oil is an optional ingredient and you could just skip it any way. Feel free to use another fragrance oil that suit your taste.
Now pour into the mold and tap gently at the mold to remove any trapped air bubbles in your lipstick. Leave it in a dry and cool place to harden.
Once your lipsticks are ready you can unwrap the rubber bands, loosen the mold and remove the lipsticks gently by pushing them to slide out.
Your lipstick kit is ready! Apply and pucker!
QUICK TIP: You can use coconut oil, olive oil or sweet almond oil in the place of pomegranate seed oil.
If your lipsticks are too soft, then re-melt them and add ⅗ of a teaspoon to the previous measurement of microcrystalline wax.
If you lack lipstick making bar then store the mixture in lip balm pots or jars and use it as lip stain instead.

Tips and Tricks to Make Your DIY Lipstick Last Longer
First things first, exfoliate, exfoliate exfoliate! Exfoliate your lips so that the lipstick does not land on chaps that are going to fall off when you apply your lips. When lipstick is applied on smooth, even-textured lips it can last longer than on rough lips.
Use lip liners on the outer edges of your lips. Just like your old Y2K style. Apply lip liner which is the same shade as your lipstick. This can also help out your lips to appear more fuller especially if you have chiseled or very thin lips, you'll benefit from this illusory technique.
Apply lip primer: just like that primer you apply before your makeup, yeah! Use lip primer to act as a base for your lipstick, this will make it stay for much longer.
Now apply multiple coats of your DIY 24/7 lipstick, apply once, twice and done! Layer thin coats that are going to stay for more longer.
Translucent powder for finishing touch! Press translucent powder on your lips gently and make sure it has an even finish.
Last but not least, avoid eating or drinking oily foods and when you do so head to the powder room to re-apply your DIY 24/7 Lipstick again. Remember to always carry it with you!
