In another post I wrote how to make a homemade soap that is very easy recipe, anyone can make with few ingredients. After creating that recipe, it'll be a good idea to make even more soap recipes that can address more skin issues. This recipe that we'll be making today is going to help with skin lightening naturally.

Skin Lightening Soap Recipes

Skin lightening is simply reducing melanin in the skin by using topicals or skin treatments mostly used to even out the skin tone. This should not be confused with skin bleaching or skin whitening which can use harsh treatments and ingredients than can change your skin tones by three or more shades lighter.

This soap recipes uses skin lightening ingredients that are natural can help to even out your skin complexion without leaving toxic residue. Some of the ingredients are

  • Kaolin clay

  • Tamarind

  • Goat milk

  • Turmeric

Using cute and silicone molds can produce beautiful and aesthetically pleasing soaps to look at, which get the job done. Let's together make this soap recipes!

Selecting Ingredients

  • Melt and pour soap base: If you read another soap recipe post then this will be a no-brainer. You can also get a melt and pour soap online or make from scratch then add skin lightening ingredients. Find unscented version of the soap base that can be good for your skin complexion to be glowing and radiant.

  • Turmeric powder: It is filled with many anti-oxidants one of them being curcumin. Turmeric powder has many skin benefits, it can help with glowing skin, fading out acne scars and even out skin complexion. This ingredient act as skin lightening agent that is natural in your soap recipe.

  • Lemon peel powder: It is another skin lightening and exfoliating active ingredient in this soap making. Lemon peel powder remove dead skin cells, brighten and lighten your skin complexion. Other than that lemon peel powder has a citrus scent that can leave your skin clean and smelling nice.

  • Alpha arbutin: This naturally occurring anti-oxidant that comes from bearberry plant. It can naturally reduce melanin production, hyperpigmentation and brighten your skin complexion. Adding this ingredient to your soap recipe will go a long way.

  • Vitamin E oil: This is another skincare ingredient that can help to fade out skin age spots, acne scars and even out skin complexion. It can also act as a preservative agent to your newly made soap bars.

  • Fragrance oils: This is another optional ingredient that can leave your skin smelling nice. You can use fragrant essential oils such as rose, sweet orange or lavender essential oils that have more skin benefits. Add it in your soap recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 block of melt and pour soap base

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon of lemon peel powder

  • 1 teaspoon of of alpha arbutin

  • 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil

  • 20 drops of fragrance oil (optional)

Prepare your gloves, soap box and cutters or silicone molds, measuring spoons, stainless kitchen thermometer, heatproof mixing bowl, glass measuring cups and stirrer. Please collect all your ingredients and tools before starting to make this recipe, you don't want to leave lye just lying around and go looking for a tool or even worse scenario, an ingredient you forgot to buy. Instructions

  1. Start making your recipe by cutting your melt and pour soap base into small cube chunks of equal sizes. Look out for shea butter and goat milk soap base are more excellent than glycerin soap bases.

  2. Next put this chunks in a glass measuring cup and place it in a saucepan with simmering water and place on stove top and turn on the heat. Use a double boiler instead if possible. Don't worry if you don't have all this, take a heat resistant glass bowl put the soap base chunks in it and microwave it.

  3. Stir the mixture between several intervals till completely melted.

  4. Divide the melted soap base into three batches pour them in bowls.

  5. Add turmeric powder, lemon peel powder and alpha arbutin in those three batches.

  6. Then add your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils drop by drop and mix with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula.

  7. Pour mixture into silicone molds you bought online or arts and crafts shop, use an ice cube instead if you don't have one.

  8. Tap the mold gently on the sides to remove all air bubbles or spray rubbing alcohol on top to remove air bubbles on top.

  9. Wrap the silicone molds with a Saran wrap and allow to cool for about 12 to 24 hours.

  10. De-mold your alpha arbutin, lemon peel powder and turmeric powder soap bars. Ta-da! they are ready for use, Enjoy!
